birthdays: december 6

Judd Apatow, 43, writer/director of the regular schmo comedies The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Funny People, as well as the producer of Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Pineapple Express - he's the current reigning king of buddy comedy, the proud husband and frequent collaborator of the hilarious Leslie Mann, and the mind behind cult TV favorites Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared
Agnes Moorehead, (1900-1974), though she was an experienced film actress, garnering Academy Award nominations for Hush... Hush Sweet Charlotte, Johnny Belinda, Mrs. Parkington, and The Magnificent Ambersons and playing the matriarch in Citizen Kane, she perhaps is best known as the meddling mother Endora in the TV series Bewitched
Tom Hulce, 57, Oscar nominee for the '84 biopic Amadeus, he's had roles in Animal House, Parenthood, and Frankenstein (1994) and voiced the title role in Disney's adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame
JoBeth Williams, 62, she hit her big break as the star of Steven Spielberg's horror flick Poltergeist as the supermom battling a ghoul who's trying to suck her kids into the television, and she's since graced screens in The Big Chill and Wyatt Earp as well as had guest parts on Frasier as Madeline and Dexter as Rita's inquisitive mother
Nick Park, 52, four-time Oscar-winning director/writer/animator, he brought claymation to the forefront with the Wallace & Gromit series, the hysterical Chicken Run, and British and US incarnations of the TV series Creature Comforts
Colleen Haskell, 34, and Stephenie LaGrossa, 31, both Survivor fan favorites, the former made it to the final six as the fun-loving hippie chick with a heart of gold before landing a small part in the ill-fated Rob Schneider comedy The Animal, the latter competed in two consecutive entries of the show, becoming the almost universally labeled strongest female survivor ever
Shekhar Kapur, 65, he hit it big from directing the Cate Blanchett starrer Elizabeth in 1998, which was nominated for seven Oscars; his later efforts have been somewhat maligned though, as The Four Feathers and Elizabeth: The Golden Age were less successful
Joe Hisaishi, 60, long-time collaborator with animated film director Hayao Miyazaki, this score composer has been the mind behind the soundtracks to such phenomenal films as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo
Richard Edlund, 70, perennial Oscar favorite (he's been up for 13 awards), this visual effects artist had a hand in the landmark films Raiders of the Lost Ark, Poltergeist, Ghostbusters, Die Hard, and the Star Wars movies.
