Yes, it's a sickness. In honor of the Oscars being done and over with, why not kick things off for 2013? And with a new history of doing terribly at this (my confidence last year in now-2013 Great Gatsby and Gravity and the not-so-much Hyde Park on Hudson are clear proof of this), it's merely a fun way to spur some conversation.
